Antique Edwardian Pair Swallow Birds Diamond Ribbon Pearl Brooch

Oh, this is such a special antique piece - beautifully romantic and full of symbolism. Two wonderfully detailed gold swallows sweep towards one another, their wings outstretched above a delicate silver bow set with 14 old-cut natural diamonds. Suspended beneath is a softly lustrous pearl drop, adding movement and that unmistakable Edwardian femininity. Swallows were deeply symbolic in antique jewellery, associated with love, loyalty and the promise of a safe return home.
