Vintage 18k Gold Sapphire and Ruby Detailed Engraved Snake Serpent Wrap Bangle

Now this is a snake bracelet. A wonderfully bold vintage piece, sculpted from a substantial 25.9 grams of solid 18k yellow gold, with the serpent wrapping dramatically around the wrist and finishing in that fabulous oversized, detailed head. Look closer and you will find two natural rubies and three deep blue sapphires bezel-set into the head. There is something incredibly good about the design. It’s strong and sculptural rather than overly ornate, with beautiful engraved and textured detailing around the head and neck contrasting against the smooth curves of the body.
And then, of course, there’s the symbolism.
The serpent has appeared in jewellery for centuries as a symbol of transformation, renewal, eternity and protection; shedding its skin and beginning again. Perhaps that’s why snake jewellery has never really disappeared. This one feels less like a bracelet and more like a little piece of wearable sculpture.
Big gold. Beautiful symbolism and just the right amount of wild.
